Bismillah, my story began here on Treaty 6 Territory and Métis Nation Region 4 where the river runs the ancestral lands of the Cree, Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Dene, and Saulteaux since time immemorial. As the descendant of a people familiar with the lasting impacts of colonialism, I recognize the shared histories and experiences that call on us to commit to the daily endeavour of reconciliation. I pray for the safety, autonomy, and decolonization of this land and its people.
